Who are they????????

This thought has been bothering me from quite sometime now…….What is being a celebrity all about???

It’s sometimes so funny the way these people (I hope calling them “people” doesn’t offend them) behave. Please do not get me wrong here. I have nothing against “them”. It’s just that their “holier than thou” attitude totally irks me.

I’m sure their work demands a lot of hard work and arouses hell lot of curiosity among us lesser mortals. I’m sure they often sacrifice basic joys of life as a price for fame. I’m sure they hate (actually here I’m not that sure!! :)) being hounded by paparazzi at each moment of their lives……

But what my otherwise logical mind cannot justify is their severe attitude problem. I mean, being a celeb does not entitle them to consider themselves super-natural (oh u bet they do!!!)…..Being able to get front-seat passes at award functions when other commoners are sweating it out at the back to get a glimpse of these “stars” is no license for them to behave as if they own the world.

I do not know if this attitude prevails only among the glamour world citizens or among all famous people in general…..But this definitely needs attention. As I read in a magazine the other day, these actors are becoming more of “people” than “stars”…Probably if we compare an “Audrey Hepburn” with an “Angelina Jolie” or a “Sridevi” with a “Preity Zinta”…yes they are…..But I am certain there’s still a long way to go.

After all, the toil that a daily-wage earner invests is as much as a film actor would put in…if not more!!! So what if both eat meager meals (one out of compulsion and other out of fancy!!)……Well, inequality is all life’s all about, I guess……..

I have followed with this Naomi's episode and I must acknowledge that US judiciary had set an example for the rest of the world how to deal with the celebrity. But here scene is something different... take it Sanjay Datt or Salman Khan... or any other celebrity... they get off the hook so easily just because of their influence... This is shameful how we are dealing...

I agree with you that just because of name and money no one should degrade other from them who are working whole day and earning for their living... and taking care of their family.

Wow miss... you are a genuine writer... keep it up... now onwards I will always be there to comment!

Not disputing the fact that "celebs" put in as much work as any other, but think of the scrutiny they face in their lives. 24 hour coverage of their activities from the no. of times they brush their teeth to the no. of times they fart in their sleep, it's ridiculous. Add to that the occassional lucky one who is stalked by loonies or recieves death threats, I'm not sure many people would have their nerves in the right place.

However, some people are born snotty, doesn't matter who they are.

U know wht!! I was really happy to read that!!
What if they're celebrities, they're just mere humans like us!! just because they have all the money & fame doesn't make them different!!
They should be punished!! btw im happy bout the paris hilton case also. She shud be jailed! B)

Hi Priyanka,

Just following up on your request, asking me to give you some feedback on your blog.

I'm going to immerse myself in your writing for a while.

Will get back to you later tonight (Oz time) and first thing tomorrow morning.

I see you are a Calcutta person. I am very proud of being a Calcuttan as well - and this is well documented in my writing as well as in my first novel, of which probably 60 per cent is based in Job Charnock's city.

Will get back to you with the feedback. In the meantime, there is general information you might find useful in two posts on my blog. One is called `Bloggers Deserve the House of Lauds' and `Putting Your Blog on the Reader Radar'.

There is also a lot of general blogging advice in the regular `Star Tech' segments on my blog, but if you have a specific query, feel free to contact me directly.

Cheers

David

Hi Priyanka,

A very enjoyable blog, all up. You are a quality writer and the passion of your prose is extremely compelling.

Your template is very clean and I like the fact that you've chosen to stick with a small, select range of colours. This in turn means your overall presentation is subtle.

And as we all know, subtle is the new black!

With my background in newspaper and magazine layout and editing, I have to say your blog is easy to navigate.

Buy you specifically asked me if there is scope for improvement. Yes, indeed. We always need to push on to the next level. I'd like to see you introduce some graphics, photographs or breakout quotes.

Long slabs of text - no matter how good the writing is - tend to get repetitive.

That's NOT a criticism. All I'm saying is to keep prioritising. Your layout is as important as your writing - so I'd like to see another phase in your development as a blogger.

Good luck with it all - and by all means contact me directly if there is anything you need.

Cheers

David

Love your blog! Your writing is fantastic. Looking forward to more from you! Thanks also for visiting and commenting on my blog. Couldn't agree with you more on Celebrities. ( course, I always wanted to act, but not to be rich and famous, rather to make others laugh, love and be happy) Your blog makes me happy!

great post! u know, i am so tired of having to hear about people like paris hilton, brittany spears, lindsey lohan, they get entirely too much attention for being spoiled brats with train wreck lives.

its basically problem with the commoners..we feel jealous..we get bugged..and thats quite obvious..and guess what these celebs must b feeling the same for us..that how we manage to live our lives without being noticed!!

so its all together a problem with everyone's life..and ofcourse..u have pros nd cons for everything..what u mentioned was just a pro being a celebrity..and con being a commoner!!

mmmm. i dont know if my excerpt will show any light to it. i met quite a few celebs in person. and ya, few were just ******* *******s. but others were no different than what another stranger would have behaved if i met them on a flight or some music joint or even a CCD or maybe while driving on the road. i overtook om puri in a delhi street once. and he was no celeb then. ;-). i got his autograph as my trophy though.
